Extension of Passenger terminal capacity

Extension of Passenger terminal

Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport is an airport in Germany that serves the Ostwestfalen-Lippe area in North Rhine-Westphalia. While the name implies a location within the city of Paderborn or the town of Lippstadt, the airport is actually located near the town of Büren, around 18 km from Paderborn city centre.

The terminal offers several facilities for travelers. There are mainly travel agencies in the airport, but it also contains a restaurant, shops and car rental agencies. The airport also features a visitors terrace, from which a full view across the airfield is possible. Although the airport technically only serves the Ostwestfalen Lippe region, it is popular among residents of a wider area due to the availability of free long-term parking.

A conference center with several conference rooms can be found at the airport and a hotel was opened there in October 2006. An industrial park with several companies is located in the close vicinity.
The commission included the extension of the waiting room area, baggage reclaim and a new commercial terminal landside forecourt.

The design merged the terminal with the 2-level car park building by creating a bridge between both buildings with glazed side facades opening grand views from the new F+B and retail forecourt.
