New Greenfield Airport
The proposal for a new Passenger terminal for the new Kumasi airport represents the emerging strength of the Ashanti region in Ghana, one of the richest in the country. The desire to be connected to the outside world by a new airport went in line with ecological considerations, as the airport would be constructed with the grade II rainforest.
The architecture of the terminal building reflects on that in a very specific way as it adopts to the verticality of the trees and the horizontally of the clouds creating a roof, which provides shadow and protects from rain allowing maximum exposure to the exterior under comfortable conditions.
