durham tees valley airport

Airport extension and airport business park

Airport landside urban masterplan and Remodelling and extension of Passenger terminal
The Durham Tees Valley started its life as civil airport with the emerging low cost airline market. leit-werk was commissioned to define mile stones for the masterplan for the airport extension until 2015. A new access concept will contribute to the growth of the airport. The urban development includes the integration of several listed hangar buildings and the connection to the nearby railway. leit-werk identified three scenarios for location and extension of the passenger terminal.
Additionally a new Business Park is planned south of the airport that will benefit by the access to the European aviation network.
