MP and New Passenger terminal

Extension of existing airport

Leipzig/Halle Airport serves both cities, Leipzig, Saxony and Halle, Saxony-Anhalt. It has more than two million passengers per year.

By the time, Henrik Rothe was engaging with the airport, it had only one runway west of the motorway A14 and a small terminal building. The first project was the concept design of a new Passenger terminal raising the standard for international operation. The proposed location and size of the terminal building was implemented.

Later Henrik Rothe joined the team of planners and designers from Spiekermann AG for the masterplan of the future airport layout including the second runway, parallel to the motorway north of the railway the new terminal extending across the adjacent motorway and high speed railway connection and, requiring aircraft to taxi on a bridge over the tracks and roads.
