Vilnius is one of three Lithuanian airports. Its role as the largest and the capital airport has been challenged by Kaunas, the second biggest with the longer runway and a Free Trade Zone stimulating regional growth. The scope included careful assessment and inventory of the existing terminal and several options to increase the terminal capacity for the short- and medium-term leaving space for a potentially different longterm solution including a new landside access on the other side of the runway.
The new terminal is currently under construction and going to open in 2025.
